AFT Colorado COPE doesn’t cost. It PAYS!

o   COPE is a nonpartisan political education committee.

o   COPE voluntary funds are used 100% in Colorado to help back candidates and committees that support education and labor.

o   COPE monies will be used to assist in school board races, levies, and referendums in your Colorado.

With the current economic environment our priorities are vulnerable and are constantly being targeted for reduction. Education budgets, programs, and services are often first on the chopping block when states face dwindling tax revenues. Along with decent working conditions, retirement, and health care. All vitally affect our lives. A strong COPE program will protect our various interests.

At the local level COPE is essential.

AFT Colorado will use your voluntary funds to:

  • Assist in your local school board races
  • Help with levies in your district
  • Support referendums in your district

Reductions in state education aid and inflation have made local budgets even more of a challenge. COPE dollars are used to work with labor and education friendly supporters on both sides of the aisle.

Senator Debbie Stabenow said it best:

It is easier to spend a few months and some money electing the right people than to spend years and a lot of money trying to get the wrong people to do the right things.”

Everyone benefits from COPE – teachers, teaching aides/assistants, bus drivers, food service employees, college professors, healthcare professionals, retirees and our students. You don’t have to look far to make the connection between politics and the terms and conditions of our careers and work places. AFT Colorado has a strong voice and presence with the decision makers that impact our lives through our COPE program. Your voluntary contribution will help make our union stronger, protecting our interests. Join COPE today emailing Kate Stigberg AFT Political Director at 303.501.7388.
