Dear Members,
I’m so honored to be serving as your President. I am currently a 3rd grade teacher at Copper Mesa Elementary, and this is my 18th year teaching; 3rd and 4th grade are my jam! I think it’s vital that we have a current teacher in this role, and one who has been in the district. I am a passionate advocate for students and for this profession, and I do wholeheartedly believe in DCSD and see this as an opportunity to help the district move in the right direction.
I joined DCF when I started teaching in 2005. I’ve also served on the Executive Board and am one of Copper Mesa’s building reps. Additionally, I gave testimony in the spring of 2021 to the House Education Committee to limit CMAS Testing due to the challenges of Covid, and again in the spring of 2022 in favor of passing the Anti-Doxxing Educators Bill.
I want to emphasize that this organization is made up of us - all the members, that we all have a voice and many opportunities to become involved in a variety of ways. I am not the decision maker; I amplify and execute our collective decisions and goals.
I am so happy to be in this position, and I look forward to working with you all. I am already optimistic by our collective action; I believe we can continue to advocate for all the things educators and school staff deserve in DCSD.
Lucy :)
